What Is the Best Home Environment for a Pug Puppy?

The Best Home Environment for a Pug Puppy

The Pug is beautiful – and he/she knows it. Fortunately, Pugs are also affectionate, loving, and playful. Be aware that your choice of Pug puppies for sale will probably love the spotlight and the camera, too. Although only 12 to 14 inches tall and weighing 14 to 20 pounds, the Pug thinks he/she is a large dog residing in a small package.

Their loyalty makes them good watchdogs, although they are typically neither constant barkers nor yappy canines. The best home environment is one that is relatively germ-free (as they catch colds easily), warm and dry (as cold, damp weather or very hot climates can stress them out).

Understand that Pug puppies are very sensitive to the tone of your voice. During training, try to be consistent and gentle rather than loud. You should, however, be firm and display pack leader tendencies with Pug puppies to avoid the unpleasant “small dog syndrome," particularly since they believe they are larger than their body size indicates.

A Pug will be happier as a pack member and, if socialized properly, will be a gentle, well-behaved family member, typically getting along famously with children and strangers alike. While they love swimming, try to keep them dry at all other times so they will continue to be both happy and healthy. In this home environment, your Pug will become a fabulous family member and a “star” at the same time.
